In 2015, the SPCA signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Lake County Animal Control to be the hosting facility for LEAP (Lake Evacuation and Animal Protection) in the event of a natural or other disaster.

Little did we know how important our little building would become as a landing spot for many displaced pets during the fires of 2015 and 2016 (thankfully we were only on stand by for 2017 & 2018 fires)  LEAP was able to provide the staff to assist displaced families with a safe place to care for their pets at our facility.

Collected dog/cat foor to be disbursed at Point-In-Time Homeless outreach organized by Continuum of Care.  Plans are underway to Spay/Neuter pets for the Homeless in Lake County

Everyone can use a hand now and then.  SPCA of Lake County assists with monetary donations for emergency needs,  In most cases, the money is paid directly to the veterinary clinics.

New for 2020 is our If You Feed Them Fix Them campaign.  With sponsorships from various community organizations and our own fundraising, we have a goal to spay & neuter 100 feral cats in Lake County at little or no charge to person bringing them in.  These surgeries will prevent hundreds of thousands of unwanted feral cats
